Northcutt Wins State Title
Rachel Northcutt of Cosby High School won the VHSL 6A state title in the 1600 meter run. Her time in the event commonly known as “the mile” was 4:59.91. Northcutt is only the second Cosby track athlete to claim an individual crown in track and field. She joins Megan Moye as a state champion. Moye graduated Cosby with seven individual state titles. Northcutt, a sophomore, will continue to chase Moye’s records. Cosby coach Bryan Still said “Rachel is a special talent and she showed tremendous heart today in her race. She really showed up big in a big moment. That’s what true champions do.”
