Manchester High School
Cosby High School
Cosby vs Manchester baseball has become a very spirited rivalry, with games often decided by 1 or 2 runs. This latest edition started off looking to be another game that would come down to the end. In the first inning, the Titans had three errors to allow the Lancers to quickly go up 2-0. But, the Titans rallied and took advantage of Manchester errors to go up 4-2. For the next inning and a half each team traded runs making it 5-4 Cosby going into the bottom of the 4th.
At this point the Titan’s bats exploded to push 7 runs across the plate, they never looked back. Behind Ethan William (very) long homerun, Trey Vossler’s 4 for 4, and Ryan Clawson’s 3 for 3 (with 2 doubles) performances – the Titans ended the game early in 5 innings.
A very pleasant surprise was found on the defensive side. Sophomore Devin Miles was given the nod. To get the start against a good hitting team like Manchester is a daunting task. Devin, who has been up and down between jv and varsity, threw all 5 innings only giving up 5 hits.
